Abaco Bahamas
March 1-4 2017 | | March 4-7 2017
This Year RG Travels is offering a truly one of a kind experience to the Bahamas. As an all inclusive trip including airfare, our trip is geared toward Bonefish, but opportunities for Permit are absolutely probable. We are providing four days of guided fishing in the Marls and around Green Turtle, but there will also be great wading opportunities just a golf cart ride away from our home base. All of the guides are local. Most we have fished with personally, and all have come highly recommended.
Trip Breakdown:
Day 1
We will meet at Sheltair Savannah at 6:30 am with wheels up at 7 am sharp. Travel time should be under 2 hours to Marsh Harbor, Bahamas. After landing, you will go directly to meet up with the guides for the day. While you are fishing, we will pick up our boat for the week, take the groups luggage to the house, pick up necessities and prepare for dinner. When the fishing day is over, we will pick you up and take you back to the house where you can decide whether to relax or go harass the local bonefish only a golf cart away. At dusk we will serve a home cooked supper and tell stories of the day. From there you may do as you please, either sleep and prepare for Day 2 or take the golf cart to the famous Nippers for an island drink or two.
Day 2 & 3
Wake up to a large breakfast that will fuel you up for the day, then its off to meet the guides for a full day on the water. Depending on timing and weather, we should have ample wading opportunities after our guided trip as well.
Day 4
We will ask everyone to please be packed before we leave the dock to meet the guides on Day 4. You will probably be off the water around 4pm where we will meet you and get you to the plane. Departure time will be 5pm on Day 4. We will have to stop in Jacksonville on the way in for customs which will probably take an extra hour, so plan on arriving back in Savannah around 8:30 pm.
Three hours from when we leave Savannah you will be in a skiff hunting bonefish. With 4 days of fishing complimented with great housing, boats and island transportation on Green Turtle Cay, this will surely be a trip packed with memories. Make no mistake, we are traveling to paradise to wear out the fish with the areas best guides, but you are going to be able to kick back in privacy when the day is done or hit the bar, whatever strikes your fancy. Just be ready to go at daybreak.
What you'll need:
- 8-10 weight fly rod
- saltwater reel with a good drag system
- small gear pack
- Flies, leader, tippet
- Sun-protectant clothing/sunscreen
- Polarized sunglasses
This trip is geared toward anglers with intermediate to advanced skill levels. As with all saltwater experiences wind plays a huge factor. It will be important to practice your cast before the trip and be ready to shoot 50-80 feet of line on command. We will provide complimentary lessons concentrating on line management, accuracy and the double haul if need be.
We are excited to be your Hosts!
