Non-Profit Partner Highlight: Charleston Ducks Unlimited

The Charleston Ducks Unlimited, formally known as the East Cooper chapter, has been a cornerstone in the conservation community of South Carolina. Established in 2003, this chapter rapidly ascended to the top 1% of grassroots fundraising chapters within Ducks Unlimited, reflecting its unwavering commitment to wetland and waterfowl conservation. In 2016, the East of the Cooper Chapter achieved national recognition by being the sole South Carolina chapter to make the Chairman's Roll of Honor. This prestigious accolade is reserved for chapters that raise between $250,000 to $1 million for Ducks Unlimited's habitat conservation efforts, underscoring the chapter's dedication and impact.

Charleston Ducks Unlimited has played a key role in funding wetland conservation projects throughout South Carolina. Their contributions support habitat restoration efforts in key areas such as the ACE Basin, Santee Delta, and Winyah Bay. By partnering with state agencies and conservation groups, they have helped enhance over 127,000 acres of wetlands and upland habitats, benefiting waterfowl, fish, and other wildlife. These projects also improve water quality and provide recreational opportunities for hunters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

The success of these fundraising events and the chapter's ongoing initiatives are bolstered by the support of local businesses. For the past two years, the Rivers & Glen Charleston location has acted as the official FFL for the Charleston DU Chapter's gun transfers from their fundraising events. This collaboration not only streamlined the raffle process but also highlighted Rivers & Glen's commitment to supporting local conservation efforts and the sporting community.

The synergy between Charleston Ducks Unlimited and Rivers & Glen Trading Co. exemplifies the power of community partnerships in advancing conservation goals. Through combined efforts, they continue to make significant strides in preserving South Carolina's wetlands and ensuring a thriving habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife.

Their dedication ensures that vital habitats are preserved for future generations, benefiting both wildlife and the local community.
